UPDATE - October 2014:

"Howdy everybody!!
I'm off on tour again, playing guitar & sometimes upright bass in Canada & the US with the wonderful singer, Ken Lavigne. He's a classically trained singer who does traditional operatic material as well as modern popular tunes.
It's what we like to call "popera". He's played Carnegie Hall and will be performing at the Sydney Opera House in 2015.
It's always a blast to perform with him, as Ken is so talented and also a fun & funny guy. As well, he hires excellent musicians, both as players and as people. I've made many new friends & comrades. As you can imagine, a good band vibe is paramount to the fun factor and of course, it helps the music too!
That's all for now, but if you're nearby any of our shows, please drop me a line or come on down to the gig and say hi in person...

Cheers, Casey"

UPDATE - August 3, 2013: New gigs posted on the Shows page!

UPDATE - July 10, 2013: I've had the pleasure of having lots of varied work this summer...just as I like it!
Stuart Munro & I have been doing some acoustic guitar gigs...upright bass with The Flying Saucers...Ang Herh, Pauline Edwards & GHB all have me playing electric bass. Even though there are lots of rehearsals, I love these new friends & playing situations.

I'll be touring on guitar & vocals with Ken Lavigne this fall...east coast & west coast performances. Ken is a fantastic singer and an even better guy; I'm pumped!

My talented buddy Paul Kannaspuro & I will get a chance for some musical hi jinks at Christies Pub every Saturday night. We've got some pub tunes everybody's heard as well as some rarities...

"Mover & Shaker" (Casey with Paul Kannaspruo) will be performing "pub classics & oddities" at Christies Pub, 1739 Fort St.) every Saturday night from 7:30-10:30.

UPDATE - June 9, 2010: Howdy! After putting much of my energy into road racing my bicycle the past couple of years, this season I've made some changes. I won't be racing much, if at all, but instead focusing more of my attention back onto music. I plan on maintaining some low level fitness and continuing to train, just not with the same intensity. 2009 was a successful season; I managed to win the Victoria Cycling League "B Group" championship. Much of the kudos should go to my coach Trevor Connor at the Pacific Cycling Centre. I plan to return to a full race season in 2011. Watch out!

So, what music will I be working on? Last fall, I got together with Chuck Simms (The Sutcliffs, 64 Funnycars, Revolver, That 70's Band) and we decided to form a Mod band. The group would focus on British rock from 1964-67 (no hippie stuff!) and some of the popular Rhythm & Blues of that time. Going with the classic 2 guitars, bass, drum line-up, Chuck also suggested that all of us should sing lead and harmony. We enlisted the very talented popsters Paul Kannaspuro (Lift) and Rich Lang (The Wardells) and have been steadily gaining steam. We cover tunes by The Who, The Kinks, The Small Faces, The Jam, as well as some quite obscure-yet-fantastic tunes by many other Mod bands.

Long live The High Collars!!!

In late July, I am looking forward to a short tour with Dave Lang & The Black Squirrels. Dave is a long-time buddy of mine and I think he's a very special songwriter and a solid musician. It hasn't been decided if I will be on lead guitar or upright bass. Either way, it'll be a blast!

I've happily been enlisted by singer/guitarist Tom Watson (The Timebenders) for his lounge bands The HoneyCrooners and Patio Pals. It's easy going and low maintenance, just like Tom!

Lastly, I'm working on my acoustic cd! I think that was why I didn't have the drive to train on the bike this past off-season; I felt like there were more pressing matters to attend to. Once I finish this recording, it should clear some room in my head to ride the bike and train. The 14-17 songs are all originals and stylistically based mostly around Gypsy Swing. I plan to enlist some of the fantastic musicians I know to do some guest appearances. I have some tracks and most of the graphics done already.

ciao!
Casey
