Rhythmic Connections - Natalie Allyn Wakeley Sleeth

Cantate Domino

The words are taken from the ninety eighth psalm.

Natalie Sleeth (1930-1992) born in Illinois, U.S. A. composed this work in 1984. It is the chorus section of Cantate HMB-146.

Like Bach, she was also a church organist, and she wrote over 180 works for the church and school. Throughout the work, the rhythm is vibrant and joyful, as is shown in the narrative:

"Sing to the Lord every land, every nation, Sing and with music adore, Sing to the Lord now in glad adoration, Sing and bring praise evermore."
