The British Columbia Government Finance Officers Association
(BCGFOA)
serves professionals from Provincial, Regional District,
and City Governments; School Districts, Colleges, Universities,
and private firms.

Our Purpose
- To
provide a forum for the discussion and analysis of subjects
of mutual concern to public finance officials
- To
promote, organize and obtain sponsorship for local, regional
and international seminars, workshops and conferences
- To
improve the knowledge and skills of all individuals concerned
with governmental finance
- To
promote development of accounting; budgeting and financial
reporting procedures in co-operation with the Government
Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada,
the National Council on Governmental Accounting
and all other organizations established with similar
goals
- To
promote the use of efficient financial management systems
by governmental organizations within the Province
of British Columbia
- To
promote the goals and objectives of, and to provide representation
to the Government Finance Officers Association
of the United States and Canada
- To
exercise any power granted to a non-profit society as outlined
under the Society Act Chapter 390, as the Act may be amended,
supplemented and in force from time to time

To improve
the knowledge, skills, and performance of those responsible
for governmental fiscal policy and management.

Association Profile
The
Government Finance Officers’ Association (GFOA) is an organization
that provides information, training and support to Government
Finance Officers of the United States and Canada. The parent
Association has been active for over 95 years, the Western
Canada GFOA recently held their 26th annual conference and
the local GFOA of British Columbia celebrated their twelfth
anniversary May, 2001.
